We have to say we hit the jackpot with Marina. She can take care of the animals, charm the guests, or analyze financials. It’s rare to stop by the Big Red Barn and not find Marina hard at work somewhere. Read below to learn a little bit more about this Renaissance woman but if you’re an employer don’t get any ideas, we’re not letting this one get away!
1) Where are you from?
James Island
2) What do you do at PCW?
I’ve done a little bit of everything over the years- it’s a running joke that no one really knows what my job title is. I started in customer service, which I still do now, but I also work on the employee and tour schedules, the website and booking software, different projects that come up, and managing and analyzing data from a database I built to keep track of our tours, animals, carriages, and other aspects of the business.
3) How long have you worked here?
I started almost 12 years ago when I was in high school. I left for about a year to move to Charlotte, NC, but then came back.
4) What did you do before this?
Babysitting! This was my first real job. I was an E-commerce Analyst during my time in North Carolina.
5) What is your favorite thing about your job?
The horses and mules, the people, and working outside, especially in the springtime!
6) Do you have a favorite animal? Why?
I have a lot of favorites but Hit and Run might be my favorite favorites – They are just such adorable, grouchy old men who love working, and fight with each other all the time but love each other too. I love when their manes are grown out, too, then they look like moody teenagers. They have been at Palmetto since I started working here.
7) What do you do when you are not at work?
I love hiking, traveling, yoga, reading, painting, tennis, good food, and let’s be honest, Netflix.
We told you, pretty great right? To meet more of our awesome employees click here.
